Robin Whitaker started her art career at the Hamilton Center, and was one of the first artists working with InsideOut Studio, previously called Heart of the Art Studio. She worked with Denise at the Hamilton Center, and painted on wood. Her favorite colors are bright yellows, oranges, reds and blues.
Robin’s favorite thing to do in the art room is painting, especially working with a tracker using the methods she learned from Tim Lefens and Art Resource Technologies. Using these techniques, she has created several paintings with flag motifs. She has utilized this symbol to draw attention to and honor the servicemen and women in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. She also has many other ideas and images that she wants to try out in future paintings, and can’t wait to begin them.
Robin enjoys having her artwork exhibited and likes the fact that people who came to the show at the Fitton Center stopped and really looked at the artwork. She believes that through creating and exhibiting her paintings, she is helping to get out the message that people with disabilities can create and communicate just like everyone else.
